Five for Friday

WOW, this week has been jam packed!    It was a great week of learning, fun, and celebrating teachers. Our PTA as well as administration did a great job making us feel loved.  I feel so lucky to work where I do with the staff that I work with.

  Oh sweet Friday, thank you for gracing us with your presence again!  My kiddos and I have had a busy week of learning and I am excited to share it with you!  

We have been busy bees making all our fun Mother’s Day crafts!
Each day we did a few pages from our Mother’s Day books.  

 

How cute is that, “I love when we go to girl stores!” with a picture of Ulta.  Love it.

Our portraits of our Moms turned out great!  We labeled our picture with fun sayings like, “Eyes to watch me grow. Ears to hear me say I love you.”  During this activity I busted out some new crayons and it was SILENT! I love how excited they get when new crayons come out.  It sure is the little things! I have quite the artists this year.  They love coloring and adding details.  I am always so impressed on how well they do.  These turned out adorable!

What did we do before Pinterest?!  Our Mother’s Day gift is a heart shaped charm with their thumbprint.  Of course no project is complete without a little paint.  ðŸ™‚

Technology Tuesday.  We linked up with the lovely Mrs. Barnett from Mrs. B’s First Grade.  to play twenty questions using Google Docs. This was a great opportunity to apply our research skills prior to playing the game.  


When I told my class we were linking up with a first grade class from Chicago I overheard one girl say, “This is so excited, they live in Chicago and we live in Illinois.” My class had so much fun!  One little girl asked if we could do this everyday.  


Our text feature this week was captions.  
We started our ABC books to wrap up the year.  Each day I pick a book we have read throughout the year and the class answers a question about it.  So far we reread and talked about Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  It always amazes me how much their stamina for writing increases by the end of the year.  We have been reading like detectives to look for evidence to support our reasons.  

This was probably one of my favorites.  This little kiddo wrote, “If I was one of the bears I would use an I-Message to get her out.”  World class problem solver right there! 😉
In science we started our seed to plant unit.

We also explored the inside of a seed.
