Digital Math Warm-Ups for Kindergarten

A few weeks ago, I shared about a Digital Day in Kindergarten. With all of the bouncing back and forth between virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning this year, it’s been nice to have a digital routine that I can stick with week-after-week!

One of the activities I mention in that blog post are using interactive slides as a way to take some of the direct teaching off of your plate! Today, I want to give you a close-up look at some of my interactive slides for March: Digital Math Warm-Ups.

What are Digital Math Warm Ups?

Digital Math Warm-Ups are interactive, virtual slides, that guide students through a spiral review of math skills you’ve taught this year. These are self-guided, so students can use them independently. Or, use them as a brief warm-up before a whole group lesson by sharing your screen with your students!

What skills are included?

In the March set of Math Warm-Ups, there are activities for practicing:

-Numbers 1-20 through flashcards

-Base 10 Blocks for numbers 11-20

-Subitizing 1-20

-Fact Fluency for addition and subtraction

-Decomposing

-Finding missing numbers

-Missing addends

-and more!

How can I use digital warm-ups?

Digital activities are versatile enough to be used in a variety of ways. If you are in-person, you can choose to project these slides on a SmartBoard or other projector, and complete the activities together. These slides also work well as digital centers, if your students are unable to travel the room during center time.

If you are virtually teaching, use these warm-ups whole group by sharing your screen and allowing students to share answers as you click through the slides. Or, assign the slides to individual students to practice as morning work, early finisher work, extra practice, homework, or however you need to use them!

How will these digital slides benefit my classroom?

Interactive slides are engaging for young learners. Engagement alone is a benefit to students, because it encourages them to keep working. Additionally, these slides review critical math skills for kindergarten. Use these slides to review skills taught earlier in the year. Digital warm-ups also take some of the lesson planning and teaching stress off of your plate! There is no prep or pre-planning involved. Simply download, assign, and you are ready to go!
