Fall Activities for Kindergarten

Fall has arrived! I love the transition to fall in kindergarten, because it’s the first point in the year where you can bring in seasonal activities. This kicks off a whole series of seasonal fun from fall to Diwali, followed by Halloween, Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. It makes every month for the rest of the first semester fun because engagement is so easy. When students are working on seasonal activities, they funnel their excitement into their school work. Today, I have a couple of my favorite fall activities for kindergarten to share with you!

Pumpkin Dissolving Experiment

Science experiments are especially fun when they are themed around a season or holiday. My students love this pumpkin dissolving experiment for fall! It’s a hands-on way to explore and put science practices into action. To complete this task, follow the steps below:

  1. Grab some candy corn pumpkins.
  2. Fill cups with different liquids (the liquids that work best are listed in the experiment materials).
  3. Place the pumpkins in the cups, and watch which liquid dissolves the pumpkin the fastest!

This activity lends itself well to following the full scientific method. Ask your students to make a prediction, and follow that prediction through the experiment. Then, have them reflect to see if they were correct. All of the materials you need are included in the download found in this fall activities bundle!

Fall Activities Bundle

You can grab these activities, along with several others, in this bundle! Your students will love these seasonal activities. And you will love advancing their skills while doing tasks that keep them engaged! It’s the best of both worlds. Happy fall, and happy teaching!
