Liebster Award
I was nominated by two lovely ladies, Jayme from Teach Talk Inspire and Kellee Browning from Stomping through First for the Liebster Award. The Liebster Award is a way for newer bloggers (with less than 200 followers) who have great content, to link up, meet other bloggers and share a little about themselves! Thank you Jayme and Kellee for nominating me!
Here are the answers to the 10 questions I received:
1. Why and how long ago did you start blogging?
I am a newbie to the blogging world. I started in February of this year. I have always admired a lot of blogs out there and thought I would give it a try. I thought it would be a fun way to connect with other teachers and share activities and ideas. I have loved every second of this adventure. The collaboration and inspiration that teachers give to one another gives me goosebumps. It is such a fun community to be apart of.
2. What one word sums up the heart of your blog and why?
Connecting. I love having the opportunity to connect and share ideas with fellow teachers. I have learned so many valuable tips and tricks that I have been able to apply in my classroom. It’s been inspiring to have the opportunity to connect with so many talented educators.
3. Is there something you learned late in your blog journey you wished you knew before?
Don’t be afraid to start a blog! I wish I would have started sooner. I was hesitate to start because I thought no one would really care what I had to say. I feel like it has been the complete opposite. I am humbled by the support and appreciation we have for one another. It really has been an eye opening experience.
4. What is your favorite past time other than blogging?
I love to read, go for walks with my dogs, go to White Sox games with my hubby, enjoy time with family and friends, and at the moment I am kind of obsessed with Netflix, so I have been binge watching a lot of shows lately. My current obsession has been Scandal. I don’t know how I missed the boat on that show, but it is pretty amazing!
5. How many hours a week do you dedicate to your blog?
It varies from week to week. I try to post at least once a week, but I also try not to push it. I want this to be an enjoyable hobby so when the inspiration strikes I try to go with it. I have been doing the Five for Friday linky party with Doodle Bugs Teaching which has been a great way to post and reflect on my week.
6. What category of blog posts do you enjoy the most?
I love reading about ideas for the classroom and well as personal posts. It is always fun to hear about celebrations or activities that fellow bloggers are doing outside of the classroom.
7. Where does your blog inspiration come from?
My blog inspiration usually comes from my kiddos! I like to blog about what we are doing and fun activities we have tried and are going to try.
8. Which post that you’ve written are you most proud of?
I loved blogging about our Habitat unit because it was a unit my students loved and I love all the hands on activities. My favorite post has been Take me to the Beach.
9. Is there any post that you have been planning to do, but have been postponing it for a while now?
I want to write about our community helpers unit because it has a lot of hands on activities and it is a fun way to end the year.
9. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
My favorite aspect of blogging is being able to read about other classrooms. This profession can be extremely stressful and the workload can see overwhelming. It is nice to connect with other educators and feel as though you are not alone. I have loved having the opportunity to follow teachers who simply love what they do. In the last few months I have felt recharged by this experience. It is a great feeling!
10. Which idea from a blog would you like to try yourself?
I really like Jayme’s (Teach, Talk, Inspire) V.I.P. baskets. I would like to incorporate them into my superhero theme.
I also want to try multiple tech tools that Marie (Once Upon a Classroom) has mentioned in her Tech Tuesday Linky Party.
I would like to nominate these inspiring teachers for the Liebster Award:
Megan from Mrs. Baker’s Dozen
Jordan from Ferrell in First
Ashley and Brookelynn from Markers and Mascara
Erin from Very Perry Classroom
Mrs. Barnett from Mrs. B’s First Grade
