Torn Paper Activity using Last Names
Activities that involve fine motor skills are so important in the primary grades. At the beginning of the year I love doing the fine motor activity where students tear small pieces of paper and cover the letters in their first name.
After winter break I like to bring this activity back again and use the letters in their last name. I write their last name on blue paper and then have my student tear small pieces of white paper and cover the letters in their last name to make it look like snow. It’s a great way to practice fine motor skills, identify and recognize the letters in their last name, and they look great in the hallway during the winter months.
