2gether We are Better September: Classroom Reveal

I am excited to be joining Ashley (Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd) and Angie (Lucky Little Learners) for their monthly link up #2getherwearebetter series.  This month we are talking about CLASSROOM REVEALS!!  I have been chomping at the bit to show you my classroom.  We started school a few weeks ago, but I spent many hours working away before the kids came.
It’s always crazy to me to look back at the “before” picture.  To see how the room looked before I started setting up and then to look at it now makes me feel happy.  We spend so much time and effort organizing and setting up our rooms for our kiddos.
This year I decided to stay with the superkids theme.  Last year my kiddos loved it.  This is the first time I am starting the school year creating, so it was fun to turn my ideas into reality and see my hard work displayed in my classroom.
My door says, “We’re Kindergartners What’s Your Superpower?!”  I have their names displayed on the shields.

I have five tables in my room.  I like to arrange the tables on either side into an “L” shape.  Then I have one table in the middle.  I have found this table arrangement gives me the most room to have space to walk around.

This is one spot where we gather for whole class discussion.  When we do writing workshop this is also where we will have “Share Chair” so the kids can share their work.

I made my alphabet posters.  I love how they turned out!

I also made the number posters.  I love how the alphabet posters and number posters match.  I use bandannas for the window curtains.  For the middle piece I cut fabric to match the same size as the bandannas.

This is another area where we gather for whole class instruction.

Here is where I post our weekly objectives.  Each week we start by going over our weekly “I can statements” so that the students know what we will be working on.

I have the kids in charge of different jobs in the classroom.  Each week I change the jobs.  As a classroom incentive we collect marbles.  I post 5 diamonds on the front board and 5 diamonds on the back board.  If the class is able to keep all 10 diamonds at the end of the day we move 10 marbles into the “Smart Choice Jar”.  When the jar is filled we have a classroom celebration (bring your stuffed animal to school, wear your favorite superhero shirt, sports day, show and tell)  I have the class pick three celebrations and then we vote.

Thank you for stopping by to see my classroom reveal.  I hope you liked it.  I am really happy how it turned out.  Be sure to check out the other classroom reveals.
Happy Back to School! 🙂
